Despite all the odds, we're still alive to make it to the month of July.  For those, that are thinking that they're unable to achieve many things in the course of the past month, let's use this month to restrategise. Osun state Governor today escapes assassination attempt at the Osogbo Eid praying ground as some hoodlums led by some APC chieftains took over the Governor's section and beat up the PDP House of Representative member for Osogbo federal constituency Hon. Moruf Gangaria. Governor Adeleke arrived the venue with his team amidst ongoing rumpus. The Governor was encircled and the security personnel practically smuggled the Governor out of the place. Armed thugs were seen with top weapons. On two occasions,  the Governor could not access the prayer point. The erstwhile President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, has said that piloting the affairs of a country like Nigeria is one of the hardest challenges in life.  Muhammadu Buhari made mention of this in his Sallah message through a statement released by his spokesman, Mallam Garba Sheu. The Executive President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to the country, after travelling to UK and France within a week. The Osun State Government has blamed a damaged train track as the reason behind its decision to suspend the free train ride for indigenes coming for the Ileya festival from Lagos and its environs. The government had put in place proper machinery to offer the Imole Train services but was forced to suspend the service after the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) informed it of a train accident around Abeokuta - Lagos old gauge line. Announcing the suspension of the free train ride, the Osun State Ministry of Commerce expressed regret at the inability of the state government to facilitate the free ride for indigenes during the Ileya festive period. In a news that just unfolded, a witness has informed the Lagos State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, headed by Justice Arum Ashom, that the Executive Governor of Lagos State, H.E. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the first lady of the State, H.E. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu were allowed to cast their votes with invalid voter's card. The Imole Train services for the Ileya festival will not hold due to a train accident around Abeokuta-Lagos old gauge line. The accident affected part of the train track, halting any train movement on the Lagos- Abeokuta line. The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) commenced repair and rehabilitation work for the damaged part of the track. The work is however still ongoing, and reports from the NRC confirmed that the free service can not be accommodated. A statement from the Ministry of Commerce reads as follows: "Osun state government regrets to announce that The annual Imole  Free Train service scheduled to convey hundreds of passengers from Lagos state to Osun to mark the  Eid- El- Kabir celebration will no longer hold. The All Progressives Congress (APC), Zamfara State Chapter, has disclosed that, it's with great shock that they received the news of the sudden death of the party stalwart, Professor Abdullahi Muhammed Shinkafi, in Abuja. It is no longer news that the popular Skitmaker, Abdullahi Maruff Adisa, popularly known as Trinity, was arrested last week. As at today's morning, he's  charged to a Magistrates Court, at Iyaganku, Ibadan. He's accused of the allegations of sexualising minor in one of his skit videos. The counsel to the defendant, Oludare Adebayo appealed to court on Monday morning, to grant his client bail. But, Magistrate P.O. Adetuyibi declined the request. The Magistrate, made the court to understand that, the case is still being treated at the State Ministry of Justice.  The court gave a verdict that, the parents of the girl be remanded alongside the Skitmaker until the next sitting, which will be coming up July 11th.

Professor Lai Oso, a Professor of Mass Communication, at the School of Communication, Lagos State University has been reported to die in a ghastly accident, which happened on Saturday evening. During his life time, he was the President, Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria. My attention has been drawn to a baseless attack on the state government by Mr Kehinde Raji in which he alleged the marginalization of Osogbo and the relegation of the office of the Secretary to the State Government. I want to strongly reject the allegation as lacking any basis in truth or reality. Governor Ademola Adeleke has since assuming office treated Osogbo as his second home by attending to the infrastructural upgrade of the capital city from roads to water and light among others. Governor Ademola Adeleke has flagged off staff audits across the state public service with a plan to fill up existing vacancies within the education, health and other sub-sectors in the state. The exercise started with the biometric capture of the Governor, the Deputy Governor and the Speaker of the House of Assembly at the Governor's office on Friday. The data capturing was preceded by a close door meeting with the state labour leadership where processes and procedures were firmed up to ensure protection and fulfillment of the interest of all stakeholders.
