JUST IN: Senator Opeyemi Bamidele Agrees That Nigerian President Forfeited $460,000 For Narcotics Dealing, Money Laundering In U.S.

The Senator representing Ekiti Central, Opeyemi Bamidele, a witness for President Ahmed Tinubu in the ongoing presidential election tribunal, has agreed  that the $460,000 that the Nigeria president forfeited to the United States came from a narcotics business and money laundering. 


He was at the PEPC today, Wednesday in Abuja to bear witness against Mr. Peter Obi, the Presidential  candidate of the Labour Party. In the course of giving his testimony, he said, Mr Obi joined the opposition party, LP, while he was still holding his membership of the PDP.


Part of the documents, that Mr. Bamidele presented the membership registration file of the Labour Party as of April 25th,2022, which indicated that Mr. Gregory Peter Obi was not a member, because his name could not be found on the list.


To recollect, Mr. Obi left the People's Democratic Party on May 25, 2022. Before he left PDP, he had been one of the major contenders in the bid for PDP's Presidential ticket. He announced his official decamping into Labour Party, two days after he left PDP, which is May 27.


According to the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal, said that Mr. Peter Obi did not breach any electoral law, even after becoming the Presidential candidate for LP on May 30, less than a week after joining the party. 


Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele, under cross-examination by Mr. Obi's legal team, admitted that President Tinubu truly forfeited over $460,000 in an illicit drug proceeds. The issue happened in the United States in the 1990, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was residing in Chicago. 


Severally, the politician in question had declined to grant interview concerning the forfeiture for many years, despite dominating many newspapers' headlines towards the presidential election.
