Declare August 20 Isese Day, CONTRAR advise Makinde, Sanwo-Olu and other South-west Governors

The Concerned Traditional Right (CONTRAR) has called on the Governors' from Yoruba-land, Seyi Makinde, Sanwo-Olu, Akeredolu and Oyebamiji to set aside August 20 of every year as Isese Day.

Chief Fakorede Mayowa, CONTRAR National Director, made the call in an interview with the NEWSMEN in Ibadan on Friday.

CONTRAR expressed disappointment that the demand had been pushed forward to those State Governments long without any result.

CONTRAR, however, urged the South-west state Governors' to grant the request as the day would not only be celebrated as Isese Day but dedicated for national prayers.

“This nation needs lots of prayers, we want Isese Day so that traditional worshipers can have a day to themselves to render prayers to Olodumare for the progress of the nation.

“We want August 20 to be declared as Isese Day, it should be observed as a public holiday like the Christians and Moslems have their days during Christmas and Id-el-Malaud celebrations.

“We want the Governors to take traditionalists seriously this time and ensure our request is granted,”

"We are once again calling on these state  Governors to tow the line of their counterparts in Osun and Ogun that has set aside a day as holiday for the ISESE DAY as CONTRAR will not keep quiet till our demand is met".

"We specially urged Engr. Seyi Makinde to correct the mistakes made by his predecessor because the last administration of Abiola Ajimobi disappointed the traditionalists by refusing to declare holiday for the World Isese Day celebration despite that the then House of Assembly had ratified the declaration".
